There's lots going on for middle schoolers at the Beverly Public Library this fall! Please note that some events require advance registration. All events are for grades 6-12 unless otherwise specified.

Creative Writing Club (Grade 5-8)
Mondays, October 3, November 14, December 5 from 4-5 PM
Sohier Room, Main Library
Come flex your writing muscles and get feedback on your work. Bring a project to work on or try some writing prompts. Plus snacks!

Chess Nights at the Library (ages 12 and up)
Mondays, Oct. 3, Nov. 14, Dec. 5 from 5:30-7:30 PM
Barnet Gallery, Main Library
BevRec and the Beverly Public Library are teaming up to offer Chess Nights. This is not an instructional class, but rather a meetup for people who are looking to play. No matter your skill level, join us and challenge yourself to learn, grow and master chess. Boards will be provided though we invite you to bring a board if you are able.

Downtown Clean Up
Tuesday, Oct. 11, 3:30-5pm

Come clean up downtown Beverly! Do some volunteer hours and have some pizza while helping to beautify our city.

Graphic Novel Club (Grades 6-8)

We will be discussing Artie and the Wolf Moon by Olivia Stephens. Each month we will have an activity and discussion.

Summer Reading Art Gallery - Opening Celebration

Beverly Middle School and Beverly High School will host an art display in the Sohier Room of the Beverly Public Library that brings the reading experiences of Beverly teens to life. The students read a wide range of books including titles from the Mass Teen Choice Book Award and the Mass Children's Book Award lists, books chosen by the librarians and books of their own choosing. Students produced creative responses to the books they read, including drawings, posters, paintings, dioramas, and more. Celebrate the opening of the art exhibit and enjoy some light refreshments! This event is open to patrons of all ages.

Let’s Talk: Managing Middle School Mental Health with Minding Your Mind
Tuesday, Oct. 18 from 6-7:30 PM

Are you a middle schooler or freshman who wants to learn about effective coping skills for yourself and those around you? Hear from Mallory as she shares her mental health challenges and gives tips on how to make middle school more manageable and less overwhelming. Parents/caregivers are invited to join counselor Jon Mattleman for a corresponding program about the signs and symptoms of youth mental health challenges and what you can do and say (or not say!) to be a support.

Murder Mystery Party

Can you solve the murder? This fun, interactive event will involve one teen secretly and unknowingly playing a murderer, and the other attendees must determine who among them is the criminal!
