Swatting Trend Update

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As you may have heard on the news, there is a disturbing "swatting" trend occurring throughout the country. These unverified phone calls threaten a school with the intent to create fear within a school building and community.  Please know that Beverly Public Schools has not received any of these calls or threats to date, but wanted to be proactive in providing you with information.

We want to assure you that the administrative teams at both Beverly Middle School and Beverly High School have met and reviewed our school protocols and are working in conjunction with the Beverly Police Department. We have alerted our staff about the situation as well.  The Beverly Police department will do extra patrols around the school for the next few days.

If any of our schools receives one of these calls, we will respond with our school safety protocols which may include a lockdown until we have worked with Beverly Police to ensure that the building is secure.  Any implementation of school safety protocols will be communicated to you in a timely manner via Connect-Ed and other school communication vehicles.

As always, our first priority is the safety of our students and staff. Please contact your child’s school if you have any questions or concerns. Beverly High School at 978-921-6132 or Beverly Middle School at 978-921-6103.

Sincerely,

Lisa Oliver, BMS Principal

Betty Taylor, BHS Principal
