Author Tiffany Jewell spoke to Beverly Middle School 7th and 8th graders on Friday, March 1 (and to BHS students on 2/29) in a special event organized with the help of Copper Dog Books.
Tiffany Jewell is a Black biracial author of books for young people and an anti-bias/anti-racist educator. Her titles include the #1 New York Times and #1 Indie Bestseller, This Book Is Anti-Racist, a book for young adults to support taking action and doing the work of becoming anti-racist. Her newest book, Everything I Learned About Racism I Learned in School, is out this week. During the assembly, Tiffany read from the book, talked about portions of it and shared why she wrote it. There was some time for thoughtful Q&A with students.
The author has generously given us her time, so we encourage you to purchase one of these books so you may spend time reading and discussing it with your child.
You may use this link to order her books from Copper Dog. Autographed copies of her books are available at Copper Dog's Cabot Street store as well..
Her books are also available in the BMS library and at the Beverly Public Library and using the Sora app with the school's ebook collection.
