Accepting Book Donations

Do your kids have some books they've outgrown or have already read and don't want? BMS librarian Ms. Woznick is currently accepting donations of books to use for giveways:

  • During MCAS when kids finish testing
  • For student to select from the giveaway shelves outside and inside the library
  • For teachers to take for classroom libraries

Some picture books and lower-grade books are acceptable, but books intended for students in grades 4-8 are of the most interest. Graphic novels and similar (Diary of a Wimpy Kid, the Bad Guys, etc.) are always in high demand!

While some wear is fine, books should be in good condition with the covers and pages intact and no mildew.

A limited number of books may be added to the library collection, using the same selection policies used for purchased books. Books in good condition that do not fit our needs will be donated to other local organizations.

Books may be dropped off in the office with a note or attachment saying they are for the library. Please include your name and email so we can thank you and also send you a gift receipt for your files.

The library can also take magazines that are good for students to read (for example, National Geographic) or cut up, as long as they are school appropriate.
