NEW: Schools Reopen Wed 1/28 @ Normal Start Times

Message from Superintendent Peter Cushing on Jan 27 at 7pm

Good Evening Beverly Parents, Caregivers, Staff and Students,

I want to take this opportunity to thank the custodians and contractors who have worked diligently over the past 36 hours to make our schools ready to receive your children, the students of Beverly tomorrow.  I also want to thank our Beverly DPS crews who have been working long hours to clear snow banks and widen roads.  I hope you and your families have enjoyed these two days with snow fort building, catching up on assignments, practicing our instruments or sledding.

The Beverly Public Schools will be reopening tomorrow and we are excited to welcome students and staff back to our learning community.  Substantial snow has fallen and bitter cold is predicted for low temperatures.  Given these ongoing weather related challenges please follow these brief points:

  • Please make sure that your children are dressed appropriately given the bitter cold.  Dressing in layers is important for warmth and skin protection.  When going outside, it is important to make sure the skin that can be easily affected by frostbite is covered: nose, ears, cheeks, chin, fingers, and toes.  Frostbite can develop in less than 15 minutes when the temperature falls below 00 F or in extreme cold weather.
  • Road conditions have improved greatly but bus drivers will be operating with extreme caution given narrow roads and large snowbanks. Please plan accordingly.
  • Students who walk should do so with extreme caution.
  • If your child requires warm clothing, please reach out to your school principal, they can direct resources to assist you.

Thank you for your support and cooperation.  Together we can ensure a safe return for our students tomorrow!

All My Best,

Dr. Cushing
